Nicola Brown Based in Clasheen, Ireland, Nicola has a wealth of knowledge about eco-printing in the 'dirty pot' - without using powdered mordants. Start by following her public Facebook Group on eco-printing and wet felting. Lots of people share projects and advice in the group. For instructional information, Nicola's eBook is a perfect first resource for anyone wanting to get started with eco-printing leaves. If you'd like to dive deeper, she offers an Eco-printing and Wet Felting Club where she offers detailed videos, resources and live group Zoom video chats. Anna Carolyn Meier Anna offers several terrific eBooks on natural dyeing, and her blog has a wealth of information for anyone wanting to maintain a dye garden. Sign up for her email list on her website, and she'll send you A Guide to Natural Dyes free. She's also a great resource for dye plant seeds, typically offered in late Fall. Paper Cloth Studio and Under the Oaks Creativity This is the course from Jo Horswill in Australia that I started with. I was mesmerized by a reveal video on Instagram and took the plunge. The focus is on eco-printing on paper in a heavy iron dirty pot. Follow on Instagram - and also follow her Under the Oaks Creativity on Instagram, where she shares a lot of fun projects to try. Maria Clarke-Wilkerson Fabulous natural dye and textile eco-print in the UK. Follow @maria.botanicalbeing on Instagram for tons of inspiration. Her workshops are typically onsite in the UK but she occasionally offers something Zoom-based. Botanical Colors Definitive resource for natural dyers and botanical printing. Check the LEARN area on the website for terrific resources. Irit Dulman Irit's online courses are not cheap, but if you want to learn everything you can about botanical printing with powdered mordants, and how to get crisp clear exact prints of leaves, this is the place. She also offers a Facebook group for members of the course. The Barefoot Dyer Jamie, The Barefoot Dyer, is one of the most generous educators in the natural dye and botanical printing community. Where others are tight lipped about process and plant matters uses, Jaime is all about sharing. Follow her on Instagram at @TheBarefootDyer Rebecca Desnos Rebecca's book Botanical Color at your Fingertips was one of the first I bought, and it opened up this whole new world for me. Rebecca is vegan, and her methods use soy binders rather than powdered mordants. I use both... but I found it helpful to understand her perspective. |

Helen Hiebert Helen is one of the foremost educators on hand-made paper. Lots of resources on her website, and her books are a great resource. Share Studios High-end papermaking supplies, they also offer a beginners kit wtih a tutorial. If you'd rather source your own materials you can purchase just the tutorial. Highly recommended for those who want to experiment, explore and ask themselves what if, and why not? |
