I have always been a creative person - though admittedly with an ample dose of left brain drive.
As half of the acoustic soul/folk rock duo Bev Barnett & Greg Newlon, my focus is on finding and nurturing an audience that connects with our message that Love Can Change the World.
My creative world includes songwriting, sculpting, creating hand made paper, discovering new ways to use guitar strings and other found objects in abstract collages... the list goes on.
But that's just part of the story.
After spending every spare minute of high school in the band room, I opted for a career in marketing and public relations. Through my 20-plus year career I've worked with countless Silicon Valley start ups and built a reputation as a marketing communications strategist with a strong ethic toward my client's business goals.
With this background, it breaks my heart to see how my fellow musicians and other artists shy away from marketing. Some feel that engaging in marketing somehow taints their art. Some are simply afraid of it and don't know where to start.
Through educational seminars, teleconferences, one-on-one consulting, this blog and monthly email tips my goal is to help those in the arts to move past the stigma and fear to take control of communicating what they do to potential new audiences. I look at this as a responsibility an artist has to his or her supporters that can be approached in a creative and inspired way.
I blend right brain and left brain thinking to develop and execute creative communications plans both for my clients and in my own endeavors. And I still enjoy the business marketing challenges of high tech companies, through blogging and social media programs as well as more traditional print PR and marcom collateral.
My clients benefit from the balance I've established for my life.
Let's talk about what I can do for you.
